Arielle Rose Hankinson is a Brisbane-based mixed media artist whose practice delves into the inner landscape of the psyche through both traditional and digital mediums. Her work radiates emotional intensity, defined by bold contrasts, intricate lines, and symbolic detail. Influenced by Del Kathryn Barton, Hilma af Klint, Francis Bacon, and the surrealist movement, Arielle creates vivid compositions that juxtapose beauty and decay, tenderness and morbidity.
She graduated in 2022 from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Visual Arts, receiving a Dean's Excellence Award, and also holds Diplomas in Screen and Media (Animation & Visual Effects) and Visual Arts. Since 2022, she has worked as an arts facilitator and administrator at Wesley Arts’ gallery, Art from the Margins, supporting inclusive creative practices and community engagement.
Across her practice, Arielle investigates themes of femininity, sexuality, trauma, and mortality. Her art transmutes psychological pain into aesthetic artefacts, inviting viewers to engage not only with the work, but with their own subconscious.
